Part of the updated Bible Speaks Today series
A new and better society has been the constant dream of men and women. Responding to this dream, John Stott has been attracted back again and again by Paul's letter to the young church at Ephesus. It portrays a new society of Christ's making that stands out in bright relief against our colourless world of oppression, heartache, separation and division. Paul's letter, with its exultant vision of a renewed human community, has, says John Stott, 'stirred me deeply'.
John Stott expounds Paul's theme of uniting all things in Christ by uniting his church and breaking down all that separates us from God, one ethnic group from another, husband from wife, parent from child, master from slave. Paul's insights are for all who want to build the church into the new society God has planned it to be.

(Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible)
Explore how the roots of the ancient Christian tradition inform and shape faithfulness today
The Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible enlists leading theologians to read and interpret scripture creedally for the twenty-first century, just as the church fathers, the Reformers, and other orthodox Christians did for their times and places.
A rich resource for preachers, teachers, students, and study groups, the BTC provides guidance for reading the Bible under the rule of faith. Each volume in the series includes
● a Christological focus and framework grounded in the Nicene Creed
● connections between biblical interpretation and today's social issues
● applications for contemporary faith and life
● devotional depth for meditation and reflection
● insights from literature, philosophy, culture, and more
In this volume, prominent Reformed theologian Michael Allen offers a theological reading of Ephesians.
Ultimately the Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible demonstrates the continuing intellectual and practical viability of theological interpretation of the Bible.

Paul’s letter to the Ephesians has been beloved throughout church history and is full of theological significance and practical instruction. Its themes revolve around identity in Christ, both as individuals and as the church. Paul’s goal is to help believers see the beauty and glory of the church and grow up into maturity. Leading New Testament scholar Thomas Schreiner illuminates the text of Ephesians in this important, stand-alone commentary. Writing from an unapologetically evangelical and Reformed perspective, Schreiner’s focus is on exegesis of the text and on drawing out theological significance. For each section of text, Schreiner examines the flow of thought and then provides a verse-by-verse interpretation. While providing a brief introduction to the letter, the author does not dwell much on topics such as authorship, historical background, or text-critical issues. His focus on exegesis and robust theological interpretation makes this an ideal resource for pastors, students, Bible teachers, and educated lay readers.
